This program gives students a jump-start on first grade reading, developing important new skills over the summer. Your child will learn phonics skills, build comprehension, and participate in a regular program of independent reading. As a result, your son or daughter will learn to decode words and sentences more accurately and develop confidence and an enduring love of books and reading.

Parents attend the first half of each class and learn how to support and encourage their child’s independent reading throughout first grade.  Based on an individualized assessment, you will also receive guidance for confidently selecting books at the right level for your child. 

This effective and enjoyable program meets once a week over a 5-week period, and includes group instruction, individual attention, engaging instructional materials, and home practice.

There are several program locations and schedules throughout the summer. Customized schedules and make-up classes are also available if you cannot attend all five classes of a program. The program tuition is $299.
